ROYALTY AMUSED
KING AND QUEEN AT MUSIC HALL. (Sun Special) LONDON, July 10. How the King and Queen enjoyed a matinee of the Palladium show, “Whirl of the World,” in aid of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, surprised everyone. Both laughed till the tears ran down their faces at Misses Lorna and Toots Pounds, who appeared in the show. Miss Lorna Pounds, interviewed by the Herald special representative, said: “The King and Queen are dears. They like domestic humour. They enjoyed most the picture of a homely spinster, wearing a pre-historic sealskin cape, replying to the matrimonial advertisement of Billy Merston, the comedian. The flat scene also amused Their Majesties.” Miss Toots Pounds felt most honoured at being permitted to sing the National Anthem.
