A number of cultivated crops besides clover and lucerne are subject to dodder infestations. The most important of these are sugar beets, onions, and flax. The hay grown in this Dominion, annually, work out on an average of I of a cwt per cow. A cow’s ration to a profitable limit should be 8 to lOcwt. The old idea of farming was to crop land without adding any manure until it could not be cropped any more; then when the ground ran out, and was full of weeds, to sow it down in grass to give it .♦ spell—that was always a wrong method.
