FARMERS AND FINANCE
EXPIRY OF THE MORATORIUM DEPUTATION TO LABOUR EXPLAINING THE POSITION. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 11. The Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union interviewed members of the Labour Party to-day, to place before them the decisions of the recent conference regarding the Moratorium, agricultural banks, taxation and the constitution of the Dairy Control Board. The deputation advocated an extension of the Moratorium because, while not supporting this system, they felt that there must be a gradual lifting, otherwise there would be extreme difficulty in adjusting the matter, and many farmers would have to walk off their farms, because they could not face the expense and uncertainty of Supreme Court proceedings, as suggested by the Prime Minister. Mr H. E. Holland (Leader of the Labour Party) said the information given would be sympathetically considered by the party. He realised that action must be taken about the Moratorium.
