VAGRANT VERSE
PRAYER FOR THOSE AT SEa. (Written for the Southland Times). O Thou Who art enthroned on high, Incline Thine ear and hear our cry; In Thy great mercy safely keep All those who sail across the deep Where tempests in their fury roar, Where waves tumultuously dash o’er Leviathans, and craft that frail Can make no headway in the gale. O Thou who did’st in Galilee But speak the Word, and lo! the sea That craved its hungry maw to fill Was lulled to rest by Thy “Be Still,* Come Thou, and by Thy power again Assuage the welter of the main, That those who travel o’er the foam May reach their own beloved home. O God, our God, enthroned on high, Hear Thou, Oh hear, our heaH-wrung cry That Thou may’st in ’Phy mercy save All those who speed across the wave; So shall we worship and adore Thy blessed Name for evermore, Shall daily render unto Thee Our vows of love and loyalty er-Robert ft™?*.
