LONELY FARM TRAGEDY

SICK MAN AND DYING WIFE. (Sun Special) LONDON, June 12. Passing a lonely farmhouse named Ashfell, at Ravenstonedale (Westmoreland), a local farmer was attracted by the bellowing of some cow's. Going into the farmhouse adjoining the cowshed, he found the farmer and his wife, Mr and Mrs Thomas Whaley, both ill in bed. Mr and Mrs Whaley had been for several days without food or attention, and the cows had not been fed or milked for three days. Relatives were informed, but it was too late to save the life of Mrs Whaley, who died a day or two later.
