COLOURED PROBLEM
INCREASE OF ASIATICS. NORTHERN TERRITORY STATISTICS. (Sun Special.) SYDNEY, June 18. White Australia already has her colour problem—in the Northern Territory. The European population remains practically stationary. This year it is about 2250. Last year 39 European children were born there. Though births exceeded deaths by 23, this was entirely offset by the fact that 334 people left the Territory for other parte, and new arrivals numbered only 308. ihe coloured birth rate exceeds the white by no less than 27 per 1000. At present the total white population exceeds the coloured— excluding aborigines-—by 1206. Ihe natural increase of the coloured people is three times that of the white.
