Cheese.—BB/- to 92/- per cwt. Market quiet. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. SHEEP AND LAMBS SELL WELL (Per United Press Association). DUNEDIN, June 25. There were good sales of sheep and lambs at Burnside to-day, it being the last sale at which export buyers would operate. The fat cattle sale was decidedly easier, prices declining from 20/- to 25/- per head, and store cattle were also a trifle easier. Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 342 head compared with 282 last week. The quality was from fair to good. The sale opened quietly at lowered rates, but plain sorts and cows slumped badly. The keenest demand was for prime bullocks, but the cattle taken all round, declined in value from 20/- to 25/per head. Choice handy-weight bullocks sold at up to 29/- per lOOlbs, medium quality and heavy bullocks to 26/-, prime heifers 18/- to 21/-, cows and light heifers 15/- to 17/6. Extra prime bullocks sold up to £l7, prime £l3 to £l5, medium £lO to £ll 10/-, lighter sorts £8 10/- to £9 10/-, extra prime heifers to £lO 10/-, medium heifers £6 10/- to £B, lighter sorts from £5. Sheep—Some 2600 head were penned, compared with 3044 last week. The sheep were of only fair quality, the bulk being made up of medium wethers and ewes, with very few pens of really fine quality animals. Prime ewes sold at a slight advance on last week’s rates, and the same remark would apply to extra prime wethers, the increase per head being from 6d to 1/-. Prime handy-weight wethers sold at up to 74d per lb, prime heavy ■ wethers 7d, unfinished and plain wethers 6d to 6 Ad, prime ewes sd, and aged and light ewes 4d to 44d. Extra prime heavyweight wethers brought from 52/3 to 55/9, prime 45/9 to 46/3, medium 34/- to 38/-, extra prime heavy-weight ewes 35/-, prime 25/- to 32/6, light 17/6 to 22/-. Fat Lambs—A yarding of about 1900 head, compared with 909 head last week. As this was the last sale of the season at which exporters would be operating there was a full yarding of mixed quality. Export buyers competed keenly for well-finished lambs, and the prices realised were fully up to late rates. Extra prime iamb was worth from to lid, second quality 9d to 9jd. Extra prime lambs brought up to 43/3, prime 33/- to 35/-, medium 25/6 to 30/-, unfinished 20/- to 24/-. Store Cattle. —There was a big entry, 320 animals being yarded compared with 250 at the last sale. With the exception of some 30 head of fairly good quality three ami four-year-old steers, the entry was comprised of old and young cows, a few young sorts being yarded. Steers sold rather cheaper than of late, good three-year-olds in fair condition making £5 10/-. Fair sorts brought £5 and other classes sold at about last week’s rates. Pigs.—There was a small yarding of pigs, and these sold fairly well at late rates, £5 6/- being realised for extra prime fats. Prime baconers sold at prices equivalent to 7-|d per lb, and prime porkers at about Bid. ADDINGTON MARKET. YESTERDAY’S STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH, June 25. At the Addington market the entries today were smaller in all ..classes, and there was an advance in values of both fat cattle and fat sheep. Store Sheep.— A. good entry, mostly hoggets, some from Otago province. There was a good demand for all classes, with an advance for ewe hoggets. Wethers were unchanged. Halfbred ewe lambs fetched 32/-, cull halfbred ewe lambs 24/2, good threequarterbred ewe lambs 29/6 ( mixed-sex three-quarterbred lambs 23/10 to 24/10, i halfbred wether lambs 21/- to 24/2, crossbred ewe lambs 26/2 to 29/-, crossbred wether lambs 21/5 to 22/3, aged halfbred ewes in lamb 22/3, failing-mouthed halfbred ewes in lamb 29/7, aged and inferior ewes : 14/- to 17/6, forward four and six-toothed halfbred wethers 33/9 to 37/3, ordinary four and six-toothed halfbred wethers 26/6 to 30/1, ordinary two and four-toothed wethers 23/7 to 27/5, two-toothed halfbred | wethers 28/7 to 31/-. Fat Lambs—A small yarding of 1430, which met with a demand at recent rates, 11-ld to Hid for primest sorts. Extra prime lambs sold to 40/4, prime 34/6 to 37/-, medium 30/6 to 34/-, light 25/- to 30/-. Fat Sheep—A smaller entry, comprising nine and a-half races. There was a hardening sale throughout, and an advance for good sheep of 2/- per head on last week. Extra prime wethers realised up to 50/-, a few pens to 54/6, prime 42/- to 47/-, medium 37/- to 41/-, light 33/- to 36/-, extra prime ewes 43/1, prime ewes 34/- to 38/-, medium 29/- to 33/6, light 25/- to 28/6, aged 19/- to 24/-. Fat Cattle.—A smaller yarding than for some months, comprising 370 head, a proportion of the best quality being outstanding. Best beef sold at from 32/6 to 35/-, a few pens to 36/6, lighter from 28/- to 31/-. The values were up by fully 30/- per head on last week. Extra prime steers fetched £l6 to £l7, special pens to £lB 15/-, prime steers £l2 to £l5 10/-, medium £9 5/- to £ll 15/-, light £5 10/- to £9, good prime heifejji £lO 12/6, prime £6 10/- to £8 15/-, medium £4 to £6, extra prime cows £l2 5/-, prime £6 to £8 10/-, medium £4 5/- to £5 15/-, old £2 15/- to £4.
