FORBIDDEN IN ITALY. SYDNEY, June 12. Some interesting facts about methods of education in Italy were given at a recent conference in Sydney by the president of the Secondary School Teachers’ Association, Mr Gallagher, who lately returned from a trip to Europe. “Italian school children,” he eaid, “are forbidden to do home lessons. Gymnastics in public are also disallowed. Drawing and singing are set down as the groundwork of elementary education. The upper classes are expected to be able to attempt opera. Italy has chosen a part that other nations will be willing to follow.”
