SOLDIER SETTLEMENT

THE COST IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association,) SYDNEY, June 24. (Received June 24, 7.50 p.m.) The Minister in charge of Soldiers’ Settlement has prepared a statement showing that the various States settled a total of 33,238 returned soldiers at a cost of £58,088,000, the average individual outlay ranging from £745 in Queensland to £2699 in South Australia. In New South Wales the cost was £2441. and in Victoria £1829.
