RADIUM APPEAL FUND

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Citizens Committee which has been appointed in connection with the Radium Appeal Fund was held in the Council Chambers last evening, Mr T. Hide being in the chair. The attendance was as large as could be expected on such a stormy night. It was decided that a local Appeal Week should be held from August 1 to August 9, householders to be canvassed by the envelope system, and business houses approached by members of the committee. The Chairman reported that he had communicated with Winton and Tuatapere residents and had been promised every support. Mrs J. A. Hanan also reported having been promised support in Bluff and Gore. A public meeting has been organised at Winton on Thursday evening, Dr G. Brown and Rev. J. A. Lush being the visiting speakers. It was decided to get in touch with medical men in the country centres and organise a series of public meetings, embracing all Southland towns. Mrs T.
