BOXING

MURRAY DEFEATS VOLAIRE. A GOOD CONTEST. (Per United Press Association). DUNEDIN, May 7. A crowded house witnessed a meeting between Les Murray and E. Volaire to-night and the combat went the full route of 15 rounds and supplied one of the best seen here for some time. Murray was aggressive throughout and obviously in superior condition and Volaire, although putting up a very plucky and clever battle, was tiring badly towards the end. Volaire displayed the most vicious hit but was inclined to be wild towards the end, whilst Murray came up well for the final rounds and was awarded a well received decision. Murray as the aggressor was always showing to advantage but in some rounds the Frenchman showed up really well and gave his opponent anything but a smooth passag® to success.
