WYNDHAM SPORTS
A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. (From our Correspondent.) The Wyndham cricketers held a very successful sports meeting on the recreation reserve last Wednesday. For some time the cricket club has been in financial difficulties but the proceeds from this gala will wipe off the balance. Mr G. J. C. Smart, the energetic president of the club, had his arrangements well in hand and he was ably assisted by his staff of helpers. Besides the athletic events, there were competitions for Highland dancing. Afternoon tea rooms and an ice cream parlour did a roaring trade. ’Pie lighter side of the programme included Hind-fold boxing, dart games and ‘‘Aunt Sally. ’ The Wyndham pipe band was in attendance and played much appreciated music. The athletic events went to show that there is promising material in the district and it is hoped that next year a meeting of the same nature will be held. The gate takings amounted to £l5 10s and it is expected to net about £2O from the feeeting.
