The Public Trustee is empowered to make advances to estates on the security of their assets, and this provision often enables the realisation of assets to be postponed until a favourable market arrives, and prevents the loss which would result fro ma forced sale at an inopportune time. The power to finance estates in this manner also enables difficult and involved estates to be carried on by the Public Trustee until they can be realised to the best advantage.
