NEW AUTOMATIC RIFLE
SUBMITTED TO BRITISH WAR OFFICE. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, November 19. (Received November 20, 5.5 p.m.) General John Thompson, head of the Auto-ordnances Corporation of New York, formerly belonging to the American Army, has arrived to submit a new automatic rifle to the British Army. The new weapon is three pounds lighter than the present one and has a range of 1600 yards, the magazine holding twenty cartridges, no bolt pulling being required to eject the spent cartridge. The whole operation is automatic as in a Lewis gun.
