SOUTHLAND’S WANTS
DAIRY INSTRUCTOR AND FIELDS’ OFFICER. REPRESENTATIONS 'TO THE MINISTER Quite recently representations were made to the Director of the Dairy Division and Minister of Agriculture by Mr A. 11. Mackrell, manager of the Waitaki Dairy Com pany, urging the appointment of a Farm Dairy Instructor, on a substantial basis, for the home separator butter factories of Southland. Mr P. de la Perrelle, M.P., has also communicated with the Minister on the same subject. It was pointed out that the importance of Southland as a dairying centre fully justified the granting of the request. Mr de la Perrelle has been advised by the Minister that the matter is at present receiving consideration. Mr de la Perrelle, has again urged upon the Minister of Agriculture the appointment of a Fields’ Officer for Southland, pointing out that the province, with its vast pastoral and agricultural area, is certainly entitled to a fields’ officer. In the past, when an officer was resident in Southland, he gave much valuable advice to the farmers. In acknowledging receipt of the communication, the Minister states that he will be pleased to consider the request made.
