MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Southland Land Board was held on Thursday, those present being Messrs R. M. Graham (Commissioner of Crown Lands), H. J. Middleton, J. Hargest and J. Carmichael. CORRESPONDENCE. Arthur Rowley, who holds temporary licenses over Sections 125 and 143 (31 acres 3 roods 10 poles) and Sections 154/155 (6acs. lr. 21p), Block VII. Waiau S.D., applied for permission to repair fencing and to cultivate portion of the area as the grass all required renewing. In the event of being disturbed in his occupancy, he asked i that permission be granted to remove fencing and fixtures. —Permission granted accordingly. James Dunlop, of Mat aura Island, applied for temporary right over small area of land between the school site and the Mat aura River.—Adjourned. James Martin intimated that if the rent) of temporary license over part of area ! shown as lagoon, adjoining Sec. 71, block V., ■ Campbelltown Hd. was not reduced from > 15/- to 7/6 per annum he wished to sur- | render the license.—Letter withdrawn. , Robert C. Frisby, the licensee of Sec. 170, j Block V., Forest Hill Hd., containing 25 1 acres, intimated that he did not wish to ? continue in occupation.—Cancelled as from j 21/4/23. . i Charles Clarke applied to surrender his year to year license over Crown lands between Sections 8 and 38, Block 1, Tuturau S.D., 3 acres approx., as from date 19/7/23, to which rent was paid.—Cancelled as from 19/7/23. The Wallace County Engineer submitted proposals for road to be taken through Section 1, Otahu Settlement and to closing of road on North boundary of Section 1 to be given to lessee in exchange for road taken. —Approved. The District Public Trustee applied for the issue of a new lease over Sections 49/50, Block V., Waiau—George Edward Davis, deceased.—Approved subject to payment of £1 Is fee. The Wallace County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of “thirds” etc., accrued during the period ended July 31, 1923; amount £217 17s 2d. —Approved. Mr F. Perry of Fairfax applied for temporary grazing license over Section 39, Block 1, Aparima Hd., 20acs, 3lp. and offered £1 per annum.—Year to year right granted at £1 per annum. Messrs Trail Bros & Smythies, of Riverton, sawmillers, applied for an extension of their license over sawmill site No. 636 for a further term of seven years.—License granted for 7 years at rental of £2 per annum.
