ST. GEORGE SCHOOL
MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the St. George School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, and the following committeemen were present:—Mr G. R. Brown (chairman), and Messrs J. S. Mackay, J. Mehaffey, J. Douglas, F. Thompson. T. Daniel. E. Race, and H. F. R. Miller (secretary). The headmaster reported the attendance for the month was good, and the school was visited by the inspector. Several parents also availed themselves of the opportunity in visiting the school during edu cation week. A visiting committee of three was appointed to visit the school on the first Wednesday of each month, and it was agreed to call a meeting of householders on June 4 to make arrangements for a bazaar which has been arranged to be held on the last Wednesday in June. A letter from the Teachers’ Institute, making reference to education week, wa3 received, and it was resolved to write and advise the Institute the committee are willing to give their assistance. The chairman was authorised to obtain estimates for asphalting a portion of the schoolground. It was resolved that the following recommendation be sent to the Board; “That the St. George School Committee recommend to the Education Board that the Act should be amended to provide that it be compulsory fcr householders to vote for the number required.
