At Wheeling (West Virginia I the Federal Grand Jury returned 87 indictments charging various officials and prominent residents in Ohio County with conspiracy to violate the Volstead Act. Those indicted include the former City Treasurer, Deputy Gaoler and members of the Council. Eighteen arrests have been" made so far. DOCTORS’ PRESCRIPTIONS. FREEDOM OF ACTION SOUGHT. NEW YORK. May 9. (Received May 10, 8.15 p.m.). In the Federal District Court, Judge Knox ruled void the section of the Volstead Act, limiting physicians’ prescriptions to one pint of whisky per patient every ten days. The Court granted the application by a local doctor for an injunction restraining the prohibition enforcement agents from interfering with him and seeking to prevent his prescribing any amount of whisky, which, in his medical judgment, he considers necessary.
