TIMPANYS (From Our Own Correspondent.) Last Friday evening, a very successful social was held at Mr W. Nicholson’s, of Timpanys, the occasion being the departure from the district of Mr Fred. Pay, who has recently been promoted to. a position in the railway service at Greenhills. During his stay in the district, Mr Pay had made himself very helpful in conducting socials of various kinds. A most enjoyable dance was held under the control of Mr Fisher as M.C., while excellent music was supplied by Mrs Dawson (piano) and Mr P. Mincher (violin). At an interval, after refreshments had been distributed, Mr Udy, the chairman, spoke in a complimentary manner of Mr Pay’s various good qualities and his valuable services to the district generally. After Messrs C. McCarthy, P. Murcher and Pettigrew had spoken in similar strains, the chairman then called Mr J. W. McL«od to moke the presentation which took the form of a handsome gold chain and pendant suitably inscribed. Mr Pay thanked the donors for such a handsome gift and feelingly expressed his appreciation of their so kindly expressed esteem.
