U.S. WARSHIP
VISIT TO AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 30. An official welcome was accorded the U.S. Ontario and the Governor of American Samoa (Capt. Pollock) to-day. Salutes between the Ontario and Chatham were exchanged. At 10 a.m. the United States consul paid an official call to Captain Pollock. The Governor then came ashore. He was met on behalf ,pf the Government at the consulate offices. The Government representatives are:—Hon. C. J. Parr; J. D. Gray (Secretary for External Affairs), and J. Hislop (Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs). A civic reception was held in the Town Hall at noon. The Mayor, Mr Gunson, presided and Mr Parr represented the Government. Captain Pollock will be the guest of Government House to-night. He leaves for Rotorua to-morrow morning to spend Wednesday and Thursday there and will proceed to Wellington on Friday, paying a visit en route to Waitomo Caves. Next week-end will be spent in Wellington. On this trip they will be accompanied by Messrs J. D. Gray and J. Hislop.
