MRS STAR’S BRAVERY
THE RESCUE OF MISS ELLIS. DECORATED BY THE KING. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, April 27. The King and Queen have sent the following message to the Viceroy:—“We learned with deepest interest and admiration of Mrs Starr’s service in the rescue of Miss Ellis, who was taken captive by the Afridis. We share the feeling of horror to which the brutal crime in Kohat gave rise, but we are greatly relieved to know that Mrs Starr’s heroic endeavour was crowned with success. The fearless devotion with which she carried through her task will long be remembered and is an inspiration.” The King awarded Mrs Starr the Kaiser-i-Hind medal.
