MAGISTRATE’S COURT

DRUNKENNESS. At the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday before Mr G. Cruickshank, S.M., James Robert Yourfg was charged with being found drunk on the River road, Gladstone. He was convicted and fined 10s in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. John Orr Fisher was charged with being found drunk in Dee street and pleaded not guilty. He was convicted and fined 10s. DRUNKENNESS AND ALLEGED THEFT. Robert Hannah was charged with being found drunk in a public reserve on April 23. He was convicted and fined £l. He also appeared on a further charge of robbing John Hide of £5 7s and using personal violence. On the application of the police he was remanded till Friday. Mr Reed, acting on behalf of the accused applied for bail. The police opposed this on the ground that accused had just been discharged from the Borstal Institute. Bail was allowed on one surety of £lOO which was forthcoming.
