HERD TESTING
THE FEES DEFINED. (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, October 6. While members were on the subject of the charges for herd testing, Mr J. R. Hamilton (Awarua) made it clear that he did not sympathise with the protests made on befialf of those who had to pay the £lO fee recently prescribed. This fee, he said, was charged only for testing stud cattle, and where owners had stud cattle tested it was only with the object of making a name for the animals. For mere culling purposes no man would think of having all his cows submitted to the Government test. The test available at the factory sufficed to show whether a cow was worth keeping or not.
