The report of the Housing Board which has enquired into the State building scheme condemns the group building system and advocates individual assistance. It condemns the day labour system as being more expensive &nd wasteful than contracting. The Board of Health is taking the strictest precautions in connection with the reported outbreak of pneumonic influenza at Coobah, though it is not anticipated that it will develop into epidemic dimensions. MELBOURNE, October 5. It is announced that the Federal elections are to be held on the 16th of December. BRISBANE, October 5. In the Assembly a Bill was introduced to amend the legislation dealing with bribery of members of Parliament. It provides for the forfeiture of property used for such purposes. The Bill is designed to confiscate the £3,200 found on Sleeman and Connolly in the, recent case. ADELAIDE, October 5. The Germ an-Australian liner Hanau, the first since the war, has arrived. Her officers comprise previous internees in Australia.
