A Napier Press Aawiauon telegram states that Mr A. E. Jull, chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, who has on several occasions contested the W&ipawa seat in the Liberal interests against Sir George Hunter, has consented u> contest the Napier seat as an Independent. Mr Henry Penn, the pianist with Madame Marguerite D’Alvarez, is renewing friend ships made when he visiled the Dominion with the New South Wales Orchestra. Mr Penn states that the orchestra will continue under Mr Alfred HiU’f conductor-ship, until November, when Mr Verbrugghcn returns. Mr W. E. Johnson, the American Prohibition advocate, will arrive in Invercar gill this morning at 10.10 from Gore. He will be met on arrival by the Invercargill committee, and entertained at morning tea before proceeding to Winton, where he will speak in the afternoon. From Winton he will go to Riverton for an evening meeting, returning to Invercargill after his ail dress. On Saturday he will be entertained at a luncheon in Invercargill.
