A SPRING SHOW
GARDEN CLUB’S DISPLAY. Although the display of flowers at thw Garden Club’s t-pring exhibition was not a large one, the quality of the exhibits was much above the average of the jhvvtouh shows. Hie display was pleasing and the blooms fresh and in good condition. An exceptionally good collection of narcissi was shown by Mr J. Humer, gardener for Mr R. A. Anderson, who received a certificate of merit for his collection. Another good exhibition collection was entered by Mr J. Stewart, gardener to Mr W D. Hum., his entry containing 24 varieties of narcissi, all of which were in great condition. Messrs Lennie and Sons, had a pleating collection, including tulips and hyacinths. On the table set aside for spring flowers there was a wealth of colour, mailing a gay showing. Mrs T. F. Macdonald had a nice collection in which were some anemones and magnolias. Mrs T. Holmes also had a creditable collection, while thai of Mr W. Smith. Corporation gardener, completed the spring flower collection.-. .•see<fl)Dg collection* of narcissi shown by Messrs N. Porter and A. B. Haggitt, contained promising varieties, which should produce splendid flower.-. An award of merit was also given Mr James Stewart, for a collection of auriculas in pots. In the competitive ctanse.- Miss White secured the majority of the awards with some lq>lendid blooms, but in the class of 12 varieties she had to take'second place to Mr J. Meadows, who scored with an even exhibit of fine quality. Mr W N.
