The most, serious Federal |>olivical crids of the session has arisen over the sugar question. As noon as the House of Re presentatives met to-day Mr Charlton gave notice of motion that the Government be severely censured for referring the sugar transactions to the Public Accounts Coni mittee before disposing of certain ament: meets which had been moved, and therebv delaying the decision of the question of immediately reducing the price of sugar. Mr Earle Page then moved: “That in view of the failure of the Government io supply information regarding its dealings in sugar as promised for August 9, to en able the House to determine th? proper reduction in the price of sugar, the Govern ment no longer holds the confidence of the House.” The House adjourned till Friday. There was no consultation between the Country and Labour Parties prior to the launch ing of the motions.
