I In the House of Representatives, Mr j Chariton, during the debate on the New I Zealand tariff agreement, said it seemed to • favour New Zealand. Though reciprocal '■ trade was desired, it should be on an equit- | able basis. M. Pratten said the agreement generally ’ was acceptable but disappointing. Asbestos i tiles were left at 20 per cent., while the British tariff of New Zealand was only 10 1 per cent. Mr Rogers explained that the item could t be considered after the agreement was given • effect to. The Bill to ratify the agreement was passed through all stages.
