WELLINGTON, May 17. At the Supreme Court, George Bowden, charged with burglary and theft of jewellery at Petone, was found not guilty on these counts but guilty on a third count of receiving stolen goods. A witness said that prisoner had approached him and said he could clean up £2OO worth at another place. Witness said that he would have nothing to do with such business. Prisoner was remanded until to-morrow for sentence. NEW PLYMOUTH SITTINGS. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 17. In the Supreme Court this morning a series"of four charges were made against Herbert Thomas Allen, < resident of New Plymouth of carrying on the business or occupation of a bookmaker. Three specific charges were laid in. respect to transactions on January 30, February 1, and February 11, and a charge was also laid covering a period from January 30 to February 11, embracing all the transactions. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
