(By Telegraph—Press Assn.—CopyrigM*) (Australian and NX Cabin AeßociatinnJ NEW YORK. May 15. At Portland (Oregon) au earthquake shock was experienced which lasted ten seconds and rocked skyscrapers. Two shocks were felt at Vancouver. TOKIO, May 16. Seven hundred Chinese students here are in dire straits owing the failure of the Pekin Government to send supporting funds for the last three months. The Japanese Government has refused to advance further loans. The Chinese Minister has never ar rived and the Charge d’Affairs disappeared last week, it is supposed,- to avoid the students who are haunting the Legation.
