FAMINE AND DISEASE. DR. NANSEN AND THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) GENOA, May 16. (Received May 17, 8.30 p.m.) Dr. Nansen, on behalf of the Norwegian Government, addressed the League of Nations Council. He demanded the creation of a special body to deal with famine and disease conditions in Russia, which rendered vain all hope of his collaborating in the economic recovery of the country until they were improved. The Council decided to send Dr. Nansen’s report to the Genoa Conference.
