MOTU RIMU. (By own Correspondent.) A valedictory social and dance wks held in the Motu Rimu School on April 21, to bid farewell to Miss E. Rae who has occupied the petition of head teacher in the school for the past seven years. Although the night was stormy people from all parts of the district were present, a fact that spoke highly of the esteem in which Miss Rae was held by the whole district. A very interesting musical programme was provided early in the evening by the Woodend Darktown Band, which has. made itself very popular in the district by its interesting and original programmes. At the conclusion of the concert Master Alister Keown, on behalf of Miss Rae’s pupils, presented her with a handsome lady’s companion suitably inscribed. The chairman of the school committee, Mr George Perkins, representing the parents, referred at length to the fine work done in school and in the district by Miss Rae. Messrs R. Sutherland, W. Hudson and W. Edge also spoke on the fine work done by Mise Rae. Mr Perkins then presented Miss Rae with a handsome memento consisting of a collection of silver mounted Doulton wear, on an oak tray, suitably inscribed, and in wishing her good luck and prosperity in her new sphere conveyed to her the unanimous good wishes of the people of the whole district. Miss Rae, in reply re- i gretted her departure from Motu Rimu, but I hoped that she would always be able to keep in touch with the pupils who had | passed through her hands.
