NEW SEASON’S MILLINERY.

WHAT TO WEAR— A Most important adjunct to Madam's wardrobe is Millinery—-on the Hat depends the success or otherwise of the dress ensemble, and it is in this particular feature that IL & J. SMITHS’ of the Progressive Stores, specialise. A glance round their new Millinery Showroom (late Price & Bulleids’) shows the trend of fashion vie their collection, of chic models. Theee models were designed with a view to suit the individual taste, each has a charm, and a something all its own, and really in the matter of selection, tbe Purchaser will find considerable difficulty. There are so many desirable shapes, so many delightful colours and such a variety of new material, and more particularly straws, introduced. TOe lovely display is a tribute to the Firm’s Expert Buyers, who in their choice combined beauty with utility—that is the perfect Hat. Qre ribbon, Fashion’s latest whuff is well represented in a collection of models, and a most effective trimming it is One chapeau which caught the eye was party cire and partly black velvet, fipished off with a touch of gold. Exquisite little creations of chenille straw, figured brocade and frosted tinsel will appeal to the feminine who loves colour, and who doesn’t? In Paris the chenille and tinsel are all the vogue, and they promise to be equally so here. Apropos colour, the new Euchria, Kingfisher blue, pale lemon and mauve are well to the fore. In strong contrast to the beautiful colours, ever popular black stood out prominently. Their shapes were many and varied, ditto their materials, which were of velvet, velour, straw, chenille, etc. Henderson’s famous straws, chenille tarns, suede and velvet pull ons, and smart ready-to-wears were there in profusion, and the prices were extremely reasonable as the following will show. A table of coloured velvet and gaberdine pull ons was marked 1/11 each, another of velours and felts 5/11; chic Belgian tains 16/-, and natty suede pull-ons 16/-. For evening wear flower trails of tinsel and gold were exhibited, in addition to mount-, feathers, flowers, ospreys etc. The matron, woman of lewure and businem girt are all well catered for in H. & J. SMITH S latest Millinery show. It can bo confidently recommended. Inspection is invited. Vwt H. 4 J. SMITH LTD., The Progrewixe Storm, Tay Street. Invercargill and Main Street, Gora.—(Advt).
