NEW SOUTH WALES LOAN
A DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE. UNDERWRITERS LEFT WITH 93 PER CENT. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, May 15. The underwriters receive 93 per cent of the New South Wales loan. During the first two or three days of the New South Wales loan many subscriptions of large amounts of new money were received, indicating that the loan would probably be over-subscribed, but when the Genoa position became acute nearly the whole of it was withdrawn. The final total was £350,000, the lowest recorded for many years, very few converting. z Sir T. A. Coghlan informed the Australian Press Association that the result was attributable to the reaction caused by fear of the consequences of the Genoa disagreement.
