BOXING.
BENEFIT ENTERTAINMENT Attention is drawn to the Southland Boxing Association’s advertisement of their combined boxing and concert entertainment in aid of the widow and child of the late V. L. Butler, on Thursday evening in the Municipal Theatre. The boxing exhibitions include the best local talent, and being no decision exhibitions, with the objectionable knock-out eliminated, should provide a clean and attractive display, while the concert is of exceptional merit, including such well known and popular performers as Messrs S. Hall, A. Dredgington. and J. Halliday. The taleriwd young English singer, Miss I. J. Cook, will be among the lady soloists and Mr F. Creel’s saxophone and unique musical act cannot fail to please. A specially augmented orchestra under Mr G. Humphries will perform a selection of popular items. The Association are to be congratulated on their efforts to assist this deserving case, and it only requires the public to extend their patronage to assure an ample return for their enterprise and an enjoyable evening for the patrons.
