ORPHANS’ CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Invercargill Orphans’ Club was held on Saturday night, Mr J. H. Reed presiding over a large attendance of members, it being the largest annual meeting in the history of the club. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, the report stating that despite heavy expenditure the bank overdraft was only a small one, a satisfactory ending for a heavy financial year. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr J. H. Reed; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Camm, R. 8. Strang, G. Cruickshank; committee, Messrs A. H. Courtis, J. McCrostie, S. Wootton, D. W. McKay, W. Millar; honorary accompanists, Messrs H. Gleeson, A. C. Mclnnes, G. Parry, J. H. Watson; orchestra conductor, Mr H. Gleeson; deputy, Mr A. C. Mclnnes; programme committee, Mr J. McCrostie; hon. auditors, Messrs J. Taylor and J. McCrostie; hon. secretary, Mr J. A. Doig; hon. treasurer, Mr J. Hinton. It was decided to again ask Lord Jellicoe to accept position of patron.
