HOME LESSONS
To the Editor. Sir, —Many mothers in this town will heartily agree with A.H.L. that it is time something was done to fix home work, and that incapable teachers should not be allowed to resort to keeping in and evening work to make up for their deficiencies. Anyone who heard Dr Truby King’s lectures and his remarks about home lessons must agree that there is something wrong somewhere. Health comes first every time. Some teachers can get very good passes in school hours, why cannot others? What would Dr Truby King think if he knew how some children are driven, and the hours they are made to work? It’s just about time we had an Education Board and officials who know their responsibility. J. am, etc, A.C. Invercargill, March 29.
