GERMAN REPARATIONS
THE TEUTON'S MOAN WIRTH PLEADS POVERTY (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BERLIN, March 29. (Received March 29, 2.35 p.m.) Herr Wirth in the Reichstag denounced the Allies’ demand for a further sixty milliards. He said fresh taxation is impossible condition. Germany is a parliamentary country and cannot impose such burdens on the people without consulting them. It is not possible to raise a fraction of the sixty milliards, in fact it is scarcely possible to raise another sixty millions. It seems there is an idea abroad that Germany is extravagant, but she is doing everything to restrict expenditure. The stabilisation of the mark is impossible without an international loan and the revision of the Versailles Treaty.
