A SINN FEIN ATROCITY ELDERLY WOMAN MURDERED (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, August 3. The Morning Post, featuring the case of Mrs Lindsay, states that relatives received a letter from the Sinn Fein Minister for Defence, Burgess, announcing her execution because she was a spy. Mrs Lindsay was a widow, aged 70, and was held prisoner for months before she was killed. She was forced to write a letter to General Macready asking for a reprieve for several Sinn Feiners, stating that if they were executed her life would be forfeited. It is believed she was executed as soon as the Sinn Feiners were. The Morning Post says it is an analogous case to Nurse Cavell’s though it points out that the latter was tried according to the rules of a court of justice. It bitterly comments on the changed attitude of the British Government in negotiating with de Valera who is the head of a gang of assassins who perpetrate these unspeakable barbarities. SIR JAMES CRAIG. PRESENTATION FROM MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. LONDON, August 3. (Received August 4, 5.5 p.m.) Mr Chamberlain, in presenting Sir James Craig and his wife with gifts of plate from 300 members of the House in recognition of Sir James Craig’s attainment to the Ulster Premiership, said that so far as that Parliament was concerned it would uphold Ulster’s liberty and second to the best of its power Sir James Craig’s every effort in the interests of the peace and prosperity of Ireland, north or south, of whatever class or creed. Lord Birkenhead, referring to pre-war controversies, declared that there was nothing which he then did or said which he would not repeat if the risks to Ulster were repeated. iSr James Craig, replying, said that whatever side others might take or refused ever to take, he would never take any but the side of great Britain and the Empire.
