AUSTRALIA’S STATISTICS
NEARLY 5J MILLIONS. DETAILS OF DISTRIBUTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, June 17. The population of the Commonwealth, disclosed in the interim statement, is 5,419.702, as follows: New South Wales .. .. 2,096,393 Victoria 1,530,114 Queensland 755,573 South Australia .. ~ .. 494,867 Western Australia .. .. 329,228 Tasmania 213,527 The total increase in the population of the Commonwealth, exclusive of full-blooded natives in the last ten years, is 969,721, of which New South Wales has 449,659; Victoria, 214,563; Queensland 149,760; South Australia, 86,309; West Australia, 47,114; and Tasmania 22,316. The increase equals 41.07 per cent. The census figures disclose that males in the Commonwealth number 2,751,781, and females 2.667,921. The grand totals arg exclusive of full-blooded natives, returns for territories not yet being available.
