The population of the Commonwealth, disclosed in the interim statement, is 5,419.702, as follows: New South Wales .. .. 2,096,393 Victoria 1,530,114 Queensland 755,573 South Australia .. ~ .. 494,867 Western Australia .. .. 329,228 Tasmania 213,527 The total increase in the population of the Commonwealth, exclusive of full-blooded natives in the last ten years, is 969,721, of which New South Wales has 449,659; Victoria, 214,563; Queensland 149,760; South Australia, 86,309; West Australia, 47,114; and Tasmania 22,316. The increase equals 41.07 per cent. The census figures disclose that males in the Commonwealth number 2,751,781, and females 2.667,921. The grand totals arg exclusive of full-blooded natives, returns for territories not yet being available.
