FRESH AIR FUND

SIR ARTHUR PEARSON'S APPEAL, The following cable message has been r»> caved by the Editor of the Southland Times from Sir Arthur Pearson:— This is the thirtieth year of the Fresh Air Fund and the Prince of Wales will spend his birthday on June 23 amongst one thousand poor London children in Epping Forest. Your readers have subscribed liberally in past years. I trust you will specially appeal to make thia year’s work a record. Subscriptions to the Fresh Air Fund wiD be received in this office and forwarded to Sir Arthur Pearson as in former years. The demands on the fund will he heavier this year than formerly, but the smallest contributions will be of assistance to this project which aims at giving the poor children of London a day in the country or at the seaside. SUBSCRIPTIONS RECEIVED.

A correspondent, “L„” writes: “I noticed your fresh Air Appeal in Friday’s paper and I enclose something towards it. It seems to me that if people knew that Sir Arthur Pearson was a blind man (and if 1 mistake not, does a great deal to help blind soldiers) they would give better to the fund; and if one could make children understand what a very wonderful thing country life is to such poor town dwellers and enlist their help at Id per head, it would be a great help to such a worthy object.”
