REFEREES’ RULINGS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —That I was justified in my complaint about the above must now be apparent to all, excepting your correspondent “Draw,” so it only remains to give him his quietus. He has taken some days to get over my reply and now returns to the attack, but it is patent that he is begging the question. He says that he is not a member of any team. I can recognise his type. His support is of the negative kind. He is more an “anti” than a “pro.” However, I am not to be drawn and have already made it clear that competent refereeing is what I want. “Draw” in his first letter supported me, but it now transpires that he did so quite unconsciously. Unfortunately I have only seen one or two matches this season so I know nothing of the hooting, etc., that he refers to. Get that “anti” feeling out of your system, “Draw,” and you will recognise that I am not concerned about teams but about the refereeing. Competent referees will help our football, and while a healthy rivalry between teams is welcome all should pull together to retain the Ranfurly Shield. I thank you, sir, for your unfailing courtesy in the interests of sport.—l am, etc., IMPARTIAL.
