STEWART ISLAND.
To the Editor. Sir, —m the Oban Times of 16 th z\pnl last there is a picture of Oban, Stewart Island, with a few notes by Mrs Grant (a noted writer in Gallic and English) who visited New Zealand some years ago. The editor of the Oban Times adds the following: “We shall be glad to know the patriotic founder of the town and island who has thus perpetuated the name of Stewart, Oban and Ulva in the Antipodes. Can anyone give us the information, as a matter of interest to very many?” Will any reader of the Southland Times who can supply this information kindly do so per medium of your paper.—l am, etc., A.M. 11/6/21.
