THE MINERS’ THREAT
A TRIVIAL DISPUTE, (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, June If). The secretary of the Coalminers Federation, Mr Arbuckle has made a lightly veiled threat of drastic action if the management of a small Otago coalmine persists in reducing wages by two shillings a day. He suggested in a statement on the subject that the mine owners are being guilty of some breach of agreement in connection with the incident. The actual position is that the mine owners concerned are not members of the New Zealand Association, and are not parties to the agreement under Which tfie coalminers generally are being operated. Mr Arbuckle’s remarks suggest rather that he is looking for a quarrel.
