THE CANADIAN TARIFF
PREMIER IN FAVOUR OF PROTECTION. (By Telegraph .—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) OTTAWA, September 22. Speaking at Sherbrooke, Quebec, the Premier, Mr Moighen, said the main issue at the next election would be a protective tariff for Canadian industries against free trade. He pointed out that increased home production and a decrease in purchases from the United Suites was the only means of mooting the penalty of 110,000,000 doll art, which Canada lost annually through the adverse exchange rate with the United States.
