BURNSIDE MARKET. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, September 22. There were fair entries of fat stock at Burnside to-day. Fat cattle and fat sheep met with a good sale at practically last week’s rates. Pigs again realised extreme prices, competition being particularly keen, and the prices obtained for pigs were again a record for Burnside. Prime heavyweight baconers realised up to £ls 3/- each. Fat Cattle. —A medium yarding of XTC> was forward. The quality on the whole was only fair. The demand was good, but prices were a shade easier than those of last week. E.'-tra nrime bullocks sold up to £3l 2/G; prime, £27 to £2O; medium, £22 10/- to £24; inferior, £1.5 10/- to £l7; extra prime heifers up to £22 2/6 ; prime, £l7 10/- to £10; medium cows and heifers, £l3 to £l4 10/-; inferior. £ll 10/- to £l2 10/-. Store Cattle. —A good yarding, the quality being of a mixed description. Competition was fairly brisk, and fate rates were fully maintained. Sheep.— A large yarding of fair quality, a total of 27G0 head being offered for sale. Competition was good, and prices for all classes showed an increase on last week’s rates by about a shilling to two shillings a head. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers realised up to .55/-; prime, 4S/- to 52/G; medium, 40/- to 4G/G; light, and unfinished sorbs from 34/- upwards; prime ewes realised from 42/- to -18/9 ; medium, 36/- to 41/-; light and aged from 25/- upwards. Pigs.—A large yarding, which met with keen competition. Prices were in. advance of the extremely high rates lately ruling. Best baconers realised from 1/31 per lb, and best porkers from 1/44 per lb. There were small yarding* at the Addington weekly slock market, with the exception of store cattle which showed an increase over the previous week. The short market ensured good prices, which generally were ahead of last, week’s rates, j Store Sheep—The yarding was small anti bidding keen. Sound and failing-mouth j ewes in lamb sold to 30/3 : sound and faili ing-mouth ewes (all counted), IS/1 ; ini ferior G au dB-tuoth ewes (in lamb), 2.5/7; mixed-sex hoggets, 24/1 to 27/5; good halfbred wether hoggets, 32/3; ewe hoggets, 32/0; two-tooth wethers, 32/11; four and six-tooth wethers, 3S/5.

Fat Sheep,—The yarding consisted of about seven races, the quality being about on a par with recent, sales. The sale commenced briskly, but- cased towards the finish. The sale throughout .showed an increase of from 1/G to 2/G per head. Extra prime wethers realist d ,54/- to 54/G ; prime wethers, 43/G to 53/G; medium wethers, 39/- to 43/-; light and unfinished wethers, 31/4 to 3S/6; extra prime ewes to GO/-; prime ewes. 40/- to 4.5/-; medium ewes, 31/- to .33/-; light and inferior ewes. 27/to 30/-; hoggets, 29/- to 36/-. Fat Cattle. —218 head wore penned, compared with 300 last week. Owing to the short, supply bidding was keen at a sharp advance on late rates. Extra prime steers realised £34 to £3G ; prime steers, £27 to £32 15/-; medium steers, £l9 to £26 10/-; light and unfinished. £l3 to £l7 10/-; extra prime heifer?, £24 10/- ; prime heifers-, £l7 to £l9 15/-; ordinary' heifers, £l3 to CIS 10/-; light and unfinished, £lO to | £l2 10/-; prime cows, £l7 10/- to £22; ! ordinary cows, £l3 5/- to £l6; light and i inferior, £lO to £l3 5/-. ritorc Cattle.—A big yarding, composed almost, entirely of indifferent ly bred and poorly conditioned sorts. Bidding was fairly good.
