' The men it- the Cashmere Military Sanatorium nave issued a circular to members :r f Parliament containing a summary' of the aims of tubercular soldiers relating to the questions of repatriation and pensions, ; with a view to hav ing legislation passed in the way of a private member's bill, i Given suitable conditions and favourable i circumstances for a few years, the T.B. j soldier, it is said, will become a competent i citizen, contented in himself and an asset Ito the country. Neglect now will render j him pitiable in his physical condition, a ; financial burden to the State, and a menace ; to the community as a source of infection, jAt present the treatment in the sanatoria lis all that could he desired. In the past, j however, after discharge from the sanatoria, I many eases of deplorable neglect have ocI curred with dire and in some cases almost ! fatal results,- AU these cases necessitate rej admission to sanatoria for treatment for a further prolonged term, being at the same j time in a more advanced stage of the 1 disease, and the number of these re-adrnis-I sions is truly alarming, as they are for j the most part directly attributable to pre- ; mature reduction of pension and the taking ]up of unsuitable occupations. The aim of the men is to make a recurrence of these I conditions impossible. 1 At the annual meeting of the Canterbury ] Patriotic Fund to-day, a resolution was : carried approving of the resolutions pa-sed iat the conference of Wellington societies I at Palmerston North, and supporting a proper scheme for providing for disabled soldiers and their dependents.
