Miss H. Parkin has been appointed to th« position of senior shorthand teacher at the Southland Technical College.
Mr J. C. Thomson was chosen as the representative of the Southland Education Board on the Otago University Council in place of the Hon. T. Mac Gibbon whore term expires on July 3. Mr Mac Gibbon was accorded a vote of appreciation for his services while the Board’s represematve on the council.
Ur Robert Waddell Reid, who was a member of the literary staff of the Nelson Colonist for some time before it ceased publica'ion, has died from an attack of bronchitis, at the age of til. Deceased was a ns live of Scotland, and engaged in journalism in South Africa before he came to New Zealand.
Mr and Mrs D. Cox, who came out to Hew Zealand many years ago and settled in Invercargill, leave next week for their old home at Aldershot, England, where they intend to reside permanently. Mr Cox has been prominently associated with the local Y.M.C.A., and will be tendered a farewell social before he leaves.
It was recently announced some time ago that the position of manager of the Wyndhnm branch of the Bank of New Zealand, from which Mr E. C. W. Porter is retiring on superannuation next month, was to be filled by Mr C. A. Thompson, of the Dunedin office. The Wyndham Farmer now learns that this arrangement has been varied; Mr Thompson will lake charge of the Queenstown branch (vice Mr Arch. •T. Campbell, piomoted to Bclcluthai, and the Wyndham managership will he assumed by Mr G. H. GhTnni, at present manager of the Riverton branch of the same bank. Mr Gifford is not a stronger to Wyndham, es he was on the staff of the Wyndham branch office 25 years ago. during Mr W, R. F. Fraser’s term of managership.

The following resignations were accepted : —Bluff, head teacher, Hugh McChcsney; Dipton, head teacher, Albert I^ea; Myross Bush, head teacher, John A. Cushcn; Waikawa Valley’, sole teacher, John E. Fraser; To Tua, sole teacher, David McLauchlin; Caroline, temporary sole teacher, Mary Porteous; Invercargill South, assistant. Mabel Hewton ; Mossburn, assistant.
