MAILS BY SEAPLANE

(Per United Press Association). AUCKLAND, December 16. For the first time in the history of the dominion mail matter was carried by a seaplane to-day, when a trial trip was made from Auckland to Dargaville and back to Auckland. The trip was accomplished without a hitch and the mails were carried both ways. The trip to Dargaville occupied one hour and thirty-five minutes and the return journey one hour and twenty-three minutes. The aviators received an enthusiastic welcome at Dargaville, where they were met by the Hon. J.'G. Coates, Post-master-General.
