ROSS-SMITH IN SIAM. SYDNEY, December 1. Ross-Smith cables from Bangkok under date December 1: “Left Rangoon at 7; reached Bangkok at .1.” A heavy storm after passing Moulmein caused delay and drove him out of his course. He followed the river Menam south to Bangkok, finding an excellent reception. Assistance was provided by the Siamese Aviation Corps Ho hopes to land at Singora on December 2 and Singapore on December 3. All are well. POULET RETURNS TO RANGOON. STOPPED BY HEAVY FOG. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association). ALLAHABAD, December 2. Received December 2, 9.5 p.m. Ross-Smith is reported to have passed Moulmein at 8.30 to-day. Shortly after three in the afternoon Poulet returned to Rangoon. *■ He had nearly reached the Siamese frontier when he encountered a heavy fog and, fearful of losing his way, he decided to turn back. lie will leave on Wednesday. Poulet did not see Ross-Smith after leaving this morning. The latter was well ahead and probably escaped the fog. CAPTAIN WILKINS IN ITALY. LONDON, December 1. Captain Wilkins, in a Kangaroo machine, reached Pisa on Saturday and Rome on Sunday afternoon. He intended to leave for Taranto to-day. ANOTHER COMPETITOR. LONDON, November 28. Lieut. Parer, of the Royal Air Force, has entered for the Australian flight. The Beardmore Aero Engine Company is collaborating with Parer on details of the machine, the construction of which has been commenced. AUSTRALIAN WEATHER FORECASTS. MELBOURNE, December 2. Received December 2, 7.25 p.m. The Government, with a view to assisting flyers has arranged that as each reaches Java he will be supplied daily by wireless with a weather forecast by the Government Meteorologist over the Darwin area.
